Heartbroken Story of a man diagnosed with liver cancer
Heartbroken mother: I told him to quit this habit, but he never listened to me. I knew something bad will happen.
A 42 years old and came came to me with severe abdominal pain that he had no relief with with the medicines that he had been taken since the last 15 days . His mother was constantly telling him to quit this one habit that he had since the last almost 15 years were on regular basis heated this.
On examination, the right side of his stomach was very tender and with minimum pressure he felt a lot of sharp pain in there . It immediately clicked in my mind that something is wrong with the right side of the abdomen, and the organs that we generally want to concentrate in this situation are the liver, the colon the gallbladder and the kidney.
So we plan to get a sonography of the abdomen for him and it showed a big mass of 4.2 centimetric in the liver that was spinning as it was stretching the capsule of the liver which manifested as a very sharp pain in the right side of the abdomen, even on the slightest touch
Mistake: Heavy alcohol consumption
Heavy alcohol consumption plays an important role in the development of various cancer types including esophageal, breast and liver cancers. For instance, previous studies indicate that consumption of alcohol at amount of 14 g and more per day (360 ml beer, 150 ml wine, 45 ml whiskey-raki etc.) increases the risk of breast cancer by 23 percent, colon cancer by 17 percent and esophageal cancer by 220 percent.
From the very early age of 20 years, he had a habit of drinking alcohol on a regular basis because of peer pressure. It started as a once in a while, which soon converted into a daily habit.
Due to every day stress and the lifestyle that we live nowadays, it is very important to destress ourselves, and we generally take the hook of such habits, which gives us a feeling of instant distressing
But what we don’t know in the long run is that it is going to kill us with some kind of bad disease, which is exactly what happened with this man .
Liver cancer, which is also called as hepatocellular carcinoma is a very common type of cancer, which usually occurs because of heavy alcohol intake and is common in Indian individuals who are around the age of 45 to 55 years old .
The unfortunate part of treating this disease is that it does not respond to the routine chemotherapy that we use for cancer and is needed to be treated by immunotherapy, which is expensive today and also takes a big toll on the financial status of the Patient and the family .
